Making baked goods is something I actually like doing, unlike cooking. I like making yummy stuff that can be shared easily – sweets. You can’t share your baked chicken with people, that’s weird. Sharing cookies, quick breads, cakes, pies, bars, I mean who isn’t going to love that?
I remember baking when I had a job with other grown-ups and a desk. My co-workers loved having me bring sweets in! At least that’s what they told me, so I sure as heck hope they aren’t lying to me. That would suck. A few people would even stop by my office asking if I was going to bake anything soon. I didn’t take it as an order, but a request that they liked what I baked!
Now that I’m a stay-at-home mom with a small child, I find sweets are a great way, albeit messy, to involve the her. My daughter is a huge fan of scooping, mixing and creating her own baked goods. So I give her own bowl to create while I bake so she keeps busy and I can bake.
You know who else bakes? My mom. Perhaps I should have lead with that? That would have explained the love of baking more. My mother is an amazing baker! She just seems to know what to do when baking and always produced amazing baked goods. This sweet recipe is for you mom!
