Ugh, if I have to. Dinner recipes are a necessary evil. As a stay-at-home mom, whose husband isn’t home for dinner, I have to make dinner. Everyday. That’s a daunting thought for someone who doesn’t like to cook. I’ve never liked making food, it just doesn’t appeal to me. I don’t ‘make recipes up’ or ‘come up with something on the fly’. That’s like saying, hey Sara, do a cartwheel or paint a picnic scene. I can’t do either.
However, when I do cook I try to make really yummy recipes that everyone loves. Then I end up being too hardcore and if it doesn’t come out well then I get annoyed. Talk about high expectations for someone who doesn’t like to cook! I used to get so angry when something didn’t come out well because I’d spent so much time on it!
Luckily, over the year’s, I’ve calmed down. Now I know what ingredients I like and what flavors appeal to me. I’ve also improved my knowledge of cooking and the varies skills you need to be successful. As a result, my rolodex of good recipes has increased and I even some ‘specialties.’ My husband’s favorites include my spaghetti & meatballs, meatloaf & mashed potatoes and varies Pintrest items. Thank God for Pintrest.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a reluctant cook and dread making the grocery list and menu for the week. Maybe if I zenned out on the idea more and started embracing that I can cook now it would be easier. But until I can, or until Colette can cook, I’ll post the dinner recipes I’ve tried and love here.
